Present Continuous Tense

Present Continuous Tense is used to describe an action that is going on at this moment. For example, He is cleaning the car, John is watching a movie.

This tense is normally used for Action in progress, Temporary Activity & Future action.

Example:

  • Bob is singing a song. (Action is progress)
  • She is doing a course. (Temporary Activity)
  • Rohan is going to Delhi tomorrow. (Future Action)

Affirmative Sentences

Form: Subject + Is/Am/Are + Verb (ing) + Object.

Examples:

  • I am watching a movie.
  • He is cleaning the table.
  • You are going to school.
  • John is writing a letter.
  • My sister is cooking.

Negative Sentences

Form: Subject + Is/Am/Are + Not + Verb (ing) + Object.

Examples:

  • I am not watching a movie.
  • He is not cleaning the table.
  • You are not going to school.
  • John is not writing a letter.
  • My sister is not cooking.

Interrogative Sentences

Form: Is/Am/Are + Subject + Verb (ing) + Object ?

Examples:

  • Am I watching a movie?
  • Is he cleaning the table?
  • Are you going to school?
  • Is John writing a letter?
  • Is my sister cooking?
